Nevertheless, in spite of the excitement surrounding the potential of AI to revolutionize businesses, these claims must be approached with caution, for it is still too early to fully grasp the long-term impact of AI on businesses, especially small enterprises. While AI has the potential to level the playing field and open exciting prospects in its implementation, significant challenges remain that could impede its widespread adoption by small businesses.

The Evolution of AI Adoption in Small Business

In the past, AI was synonymous with high costs, complex systems, and limited accessibility. Only large companies with massive resources could harness its power. In a dramatic shift, however, the days of complex, expensive systems are now gone.

Currently, a recent IBM report states that 35% of businesses, not just large corporations, use AI “significantly,” compared to only 22% in 2021. This represents a 64% increase in significant AI adoption, highlighting the rapid trend towards democratized AI.
