Dr. Kimberley L. Thachuk is a senior analyst and educator focusing on transnational security issues, including corruption; organized crime; terrorism; human, drug, and arms trafficking; and environment, health, and energy. She served as the National Counterintelligence Officer for Transnational Issues at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, as well as a Senior Analyst and Director of Research at a number of US intelligence community locations. Prior to this, Dr. Thachuk was a Senior Research Professor and analyst directing policy and projects on transnational threats at the National Defense University. She was also a professor in several graduate programs in Washington D.C. where she taught transnational security issues, transnational organized crime, and US foreign policy. She is the author of numerous book chapters and articles and editor of three books: Transnational Threats: Smuggling and Trafficking in Arms, Drugs and Human Life (2007), Terrorist Criminal Enterprises: Financing Terrorism through Organized Crime, with Rollie Lal (2018); and The Private Sector and Organized Crime, with Yuliya Zabyelina (2022).
