Dr. Shajkovci discusses the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and terrorism, exploring its harmful potential in the hands of malicious actors. The conversation touches on the prevalence and tactics of AI-enabled terrorism with specific examples such as the use of deep fakes for disinformation and terrorist propaganda methods. Dr. Shajkovci is a counter-terrorism researcher, lecturer, and security analyst, with field research experience in Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Western Europe, the Balkans, Kenya, Central Asia, Somalia, Ukraine, and Malaysia. Dr. Shajkovci is Director of the American Counterterrorism Targeting and Resilience Institute (ACTRI), where he co-leads research projects and initiatives on the manifestations of right-wing, left-wing, and militant jihadi forms of political violence both offline and online. Dr. Shajkovci obtained his Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, with a focus on Homeland Security Policy, from Walden University. He obtained his M.A. in Public Policy and Administration, from Northwestern University, and a B.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy from Dominican University. He has authored or co-authored 100+ publications and presentations in academic, professional, and other platforms on the subject of terrorism and violent extremism. He has written for, and his work has been quoted by, The New York Times, The Hill, Homeland Security Today, New York Post, Euro News, The Daily Beast, Washington Examiner, Daily Caller, Fox News, and others.
