Jackie Ducharme is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Orion Policy Institute (OPI), specializing in defense and security. She is a doctoral candidate in Public Policy with an emphasis in National Security at Liberty University, exploring the nexus between terrorism and human trafficking, as well as broader issues in national security. She obtained her Masters in Terrorism and Homeland Security Policy from American University, where she conducted in-depth analyses of extremist organizations, counterterrorism strategies, U.S. national security policy, and the correlation between U.S. troop levels and an escalation of violence in war zones. Jackie’s academic work is informed by experience working in government oversight and analysis, where she has contributed to high-level assessments of security and defense initiatives. She has conducted analyses of U.S. reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan, evaluated the implications of withdrawing from conflict zones, and examined the risks of illicit financial flows to terrorist and insurgent organizations. Jackie is passionate about producing research that informs both policymakers and scholars, bridging the gap between theory and practice in global security challenges.
