Del Schlangen is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Orion Policy Institute (OPI), focusing on how emerging technologies are shaping national security risks and policy.

He brings nearly two decades of experience across intelligence, cyber threat analysis, and strategic security in both the public and private sectors. His background includes service as a U.S. Army intelligence analyst and in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, as well as intelligence and cyber roles supporting the Defense Intelligence Agency, U.S. Cyber Command, and U.S. Special Operations Command. He currently works on strategic intelligence and emerging technology risk at Google, with a focus on adversarial assessment of generative and agentic AI systems, emerging threat foresight, and the geopolitics of frontier technologies.

Mr. Schlangen is completing his Juris Doctor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law (July 2026), with a concentration in artificial intelligence policy and emerging technology law. He holds a Master of Public Policy from American Military University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from George Mason University.
