Colin Pascal is a Senior Fellow at OPI and a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and Military Intelligence officer. During his 20-year military career he spent 52 months in Iraq and Afghanistan, including an assignment as an Assistant Army Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and as the Director of Human Intelligence and Counterintelligence for Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.  Colin is a graduate of the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent Course, the Advanced Counterintelligence Operations Course, the Counterintelligence Surveillance Course, the National Security Investigations Course, and other human intelligence and counterintelligence qualification courses.  He served as the Director of Operations for the U.S. Army Foreign Counterintelligence Activity and was responsible for the conduct of sensitive counterintelligence operations worldwide.  Colin is an opinion contributor to The Baltimore Sun and The Hill and holds a bachelor’s degree in history from St. Bonaventure University and a master’s degree in military art and science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.  He is pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree at American University.
