Alexander Ohlers (Ph.D.) is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Orion Policy Institute and an international affairs analyst and consultant. His areas of specialty include international security, strategies of direct and indirect warfare, insurgent and criminal networks, and counterinsurgency. Ohlers formerly served as a Senior Analyst for the U.S. Department of State in the Middle East, where he was an Action Officer to the Iraqi Council of Ministers and Iraqi National Security Council (NSC) in coordination with Multinational Force–Iraq. He was also the founder and President of International Human Development Corporation (IHDC) in Latin America and has served in the U.S. Trade and Development Agency’s Middle East and Africa Region. Ohlersholds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and has taught on warfare at the London School of Economics and the University of Tennessee.
