Mehmet F. Bastug is a Non-Resident Fellow at Orion Policy Institute and the Director of the Master of Science in Cybercrime Investigation and Cybersecurity program and an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, Cybersecurity, and Sociology at the University of Scranton. 

He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. from Rutgers University. He also received a graduate certificate in cybersecurity from Harvard University. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and a CEH Hall of Fame inductee. A recipient of the Faculty Senate Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award, he teaches cybersecurity and homeland security at both undergraduate and graduate levels, offering students expert insights grounded in real-world applications. 

He previously taught at Lakehead University and Ontario Tech University in Canada. He published over 30 research papers, including peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters.
