Matthew S. Juntz is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Orion Policy Institute, specializing in strategic security, national defense policy, and intelligence governance. A highly accomplished scholar and practitioner, he recently completed his Ph.D. in Strategic Security from National American University, where his research focuses on military strategy, including his dissertation, The Role of Communication Strategy in the IDF’s Tactical, Operational, and Strategic Effectiveness During the Six-Day War.He holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College (JPME Phase I) and was a McConnell Strategic Scholar at the University of Louisville. He brings over 15 years of military service and extensive experience in the national security sector, including his civilian role as a Lead Security Specialist and Adjudication Officer at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and as a Classified Information Security Officer at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).Mr. Juntz possesses an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance and is an expert in classified security management (SCI, SAP, and HSPD-12 programs), counterintelligence, and risk mitigation. He is a recipient of the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award and the Reserve Organization of America Leadership Award for the entire Department of War and currently serves as a Commanding Officer in the U.S. Army. He also contributes to international policy discussions as a member of the Defense Attitudes and Security Issues Committee (DEFSEC) for the Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR).
